Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Scam
At 10.55am on 22 August 2024, I received a call from a purported officer from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on my mum's phone number. I have my mum's phone number because I had to change her SIM card a few months ago. The caller's number is 019 204 1937. He claimed that my mum's number was detected gambling in Kelantan. Neither my mum nor myself have been to Kelantan. And I don't gamble and my mum is too old to learn how to gamble. The scammer said that I have to call back the number within one hour or my number would be terminated. The strange thing was the scammer asked things like was I driving, who was in the car with me, etc. I hung up.
